Frequently asked questions for engaged couples
1) Is a request the same as a booking?
No. A request is an enquiry to check information and availability. The booking only becomes final once you and the rental company have confirmed everything (and any payment or deposit has been made).
2) How quickly will I get a reply to my request?
Usually within 24 hours. At weekends, on public holidays or in peak season it can sometimes take up to 48 hours.
3) What if I don't receive a reply?
First check your spam or junk folder and make sure your email address is correct. Still heard nothing after 24 hours (or 48 hours at the weekend)? Then submit a second request for a different car or get in touch with us.
4) Can I hire the wedding car with a chauffeur?
That depends on the provider and the car. The listing page usually states whether the car is offered with a chauffeur or whether you can drive it yourself.
5) What is usually included in the price?
That differs from one rental company to another. Often included are an agreed number of hours or kilometres and basic insurance. Extras such as champagne, decorations, a longer hire period, multiple stops or travel costs may cost extra.
6) Are there any travel or mileage costs?
Sometimes. This depends on the distance to the pick-up or wedding venue and on what you agree with the rental company. Always check this if it isn't clearly stated.
7) Can the car be decorated?
Often yes, but not always (or only with certain materials). Some rental companies don't allow tape or suction cups, or only allow "damage-free" decorations. Agree this in advance.
8) What about the deposit and insurance?
For self-drive hire, rental companies sometimes ask for a deposit. An excess may also apply. The exact terms differ per car, so ask the rental company about the insurance cover and the deposit arrangements.
9) What happens in bad weather?
Usually the hire simply goes ahead. With convertibles you can often drive with the roof up. Would you like a backup plan for extreme weather? Discuss it with the rental company in advance.
10) Can I cancel or change the date?
That differs per rental company and depends on how close you are to the wedding date. Ask about the cancellation and change conditions before you book definitively.
11) How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible, especially in the wedding season (May to September). Popular cars are often fully booked weeks or even months ahead. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible too, but the choice is then more limited.
12) Can the car visit several locations (hotel, photo shoot, wedding venue)?
Often it can. Include your route and schedule in your request. Extra stops or extra hours may affect the price.
13) Can I take the car abroad?
Usually not as standard. This depends on the insurance and the rental company's terms. If you would like to, say so straight away in your request.
14) Can I make several requests at once?
Yes, and it's a smart idea if you can't decide between 2 or 3 cars. That way you can compare availability and conditions before making your final choice.
15) What do I need to provide to book quickly?
At the very least: the date, time, locations, number of hours, chauffeur or self-drive, and your route preferences. For self-drive hire, the rental company may ask for a driving licence or ID and sometimes a deposit.
