Ferrari comes from Maranello in northern Italy and was founded by Enzo Ferrari, who first made his name in motor racing. The prancing horse on a yellow background is known all over the world, and few brands evoke as much as Ferrari. A Ferrari at a wedding is therefore a choice that nobody will overlook.
A car like this suits a couple who love speed, design or motor racing, or a wedding where everything is allowed to be on a grand scale. Think of a luxury hotel, a modern villa, a golf club or a party by the water. A Ferrari is a rewarding subject for photos: the lines are low and flowing, and almost any backdrop becomes more dramatic with one in the frame. A photographer who crouches down low will bring out the profile of the car best.
The 488 GTB is a two-seater that was unveiled in the mid-2010s. GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta, Ferrari's traditional name for a closed coupé. The turbocharged V8 sits behind the seats. Read more on the page about the Ferrari 488 as a wedding car.
A 488 GTB has space for the couple and nobody else. The luggage space is at the front and is small. Witnesses and family will therefore travel separately, and bags will need to go with someone else.
The car sits very low. With a sleek or short dress, getting in is no problem, but with a lot of tulle or a long train it is a little trickier. Sit down with your back to the seat, keep your legs outside the car and then turn slowly inwards. Ask someone to arrange the fabric before the door is closed. Getting out works in the reverse order, and a helping hand is welcome.
A Ferrari is a modern car with air conditioning and powerful brakes, but it demands respect. For self-drive, rental companies almost always set conditions on age and driving experience, and ask for a deposit. Insurance and the arrangements for any damage also deserve attention. Ask about all of this when you request a quote, so that you know where you stand.
Pay attention to the route. A 488 is low, so high kerbs, steep driveways and unpaved tracks are best avoided. A castle with a gravel path or a farm with a muddy yard is therefore less suitable than a venue with a paved driveway. Discuss with the rental company where the car can stop for the entrance and the photos.
The sound is part of the experience too. At a quiet ceremony venue, it is better to start the engine only once the guests are outside. If you are undecided between brands, you can also look at the other sporty wedding cars or at the luxury wedding cars, which include roomier models.
Decorate a Ferrari sparingly. A narrow ribbon across the bonnet or a small flower arrangement at the rear suits its sleek lines. A large bouquet on the nose does not work: the bonnet slopes down low and the wind will do the rest. Always check with the rental company how the decoration may be attached.
