We take care with your data and collect no more than necessary. Below you can read which data we process, why, who we share it with and how long we keep it. We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Which data do we process?

2.1 When you visit the site

We measure how the site is used ourselves, without Google Analytics or any other third parties. We record which pages and cars are viewed, clicks on a rental company's phone number, website or message button, the site you came from, your browser and device type, and a random code for each visit. That code is not linked to your name. Rental companies only see totals for their own cars.

For security reasons, our server keeps a log that includes your IP address, among other things. This log is cleared automatically.

2.2 When you submit a request

Your name, email address, phone number (if you provide one), wedding date, delivery location, your message and the cars your request is about.

2.3 If you are a rental company

Your name, company name or the name shown on the site, email address, phone number, address, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and VAT number (for a business), invoice details and payment status, the texts and photos you post, and how you use the portal. If you choose direct debit, our payment provider records the mandate.

2.4 On your own device

We store your favourites, your cookie preference and, for rental companies, your login session in your own browser's storage. Your favourites never leave your device unless you send them yourself in a request.

3. What do we use it for?

• Forwarding your request to the rental companies you have chosen. Legal basis: performance of the service you ask for (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
• The rental company portal, invoices and payments. Legal basis: performance of the contract and the statutory retention obligation (art. 6(1)(b) and (c)).
• Emails about your request or account, such as a login code, a welcome email or an invoice. Legal basis: performance of the contract (art. 6(1)(b)).
• Statistics, improving the site, and security. Legal basis: legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)).

4. Cookies

We do not use analytics cookies, marketing cookies or third-party trackers. We only store what is needed to make the site work, such as your favourites and your preferences. You can view and change your choice on the Cookie settings page. If we ever do start using analytics or marketing cookies, we will ask for your consent first.

5. Who do we share data with?

We never sell your data. We only share it when necessary:

• Rental companies: your request only goes to the rental companies you choose yourself. After that, the rental company is responsible for what it does with your data.
• Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany): the servers where the site and the data are hosted, in Nuremberg.
• Wesender: sending email.
• Mollie B.V. (Amsterdam): payments from rental companies and direct debit.
• bunq B.V. (Amsterdam): our bank. We read incoming transfers so we can match them to invoices.
• Government authorities: only when the law requires us to.

With parties that process data on our behalf, we make agreements so that they only use it for our purpose and keep it secure.

6. How long do we keep it?

• Requests: up to 12 months after the request.
• Rental company account: for as long as your account exists.
• Invoices and payment details: 7 years, because of the statutory tax retention obligation.
• Statistics: aggregated per car and per rental company, without any data that can be traced back to you.

7. Security

• The entire site works over an encrypted connection (https).
• Rental companies log in with a one-time code sent by email, with no password that could leak.
• Only people who need access can see personal data; each rental company only sees its own requests.

If something does go wrong with your data, we will report it as the law requires.

8. Your rights

You may view your data, have it corrected or have it deleted. You can object to its use, ask us to restrict its use, and request your data in a common file format. To do so, email info@trouwautohurenonline.nl. We will respond within 4 weeks.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

9. Children

The site is not intended for children under 16. If you think we have accidentally collected data from a child, please email us and we will delete it.

10. Links to other sites

The site contains links to other websites, for example those of rental companies. We are not responsible for their content or how they handle privacy.

11. Changes

We will update this policy if our service or the law changes. The current version is always available on this page.
