Pontiac was a General Motors brand that built sporty American cars for decades. It is best known for the 1964 GTO, often seen as one of the first true muscle cars: a mid-sized American coupe with a big V8. The Firebird, the LeMans and the Grand Prix followed later. General Motors discontinued the brand in 2010, so every Pontiac is now a piece of history.
As a wedding car, a Pontiac suits couples who love a tough, American look. The deep sound of a V8, wide tyres and gleaming chrome make for a striking arrival. The sporty models usually have two doors and a reasonable back seat, so a dress will fit, although getting into the back takes a little skill.
Agree with the driver beforehand how the car will arrive. A V8 that pulls up quietly and is then switched off makes more of an impression than a roaring engine during the ceremony. Save the noise for the departure, when all the guests are outside and the couple drive away.
