Daimler is a British marque that began in the late nineteenth century with a licence to build Gottlieb Daimler's engines, but soon grew into a name of its own. For a long time the British royal family travelled in Daimlers. In 1960 the marque was taken over by Jaguar, and after that Daimler mostly appeared as a badge on luxury versions of Jaguar models. In the wedding world, the large Daimler limousine from the seventies and eighties is well known, with its spacious rear compartment.
A special variant is the landaulette: a body style where only the roof above the rear seat can be opened. That way you sit in the open air in the back, while the driver sits up front under a fixed roof. For a church ceremony or an estate with a long drive, it is a dignified and photogenic choice.
A large Daimler limousine often has a partition window between the front and rear seats, plus folding seats in the back. This means that besides the bride and groom, one or two witnesses can sometimes come along as well. Ask the rental company how many seats have seat belts, as this differs from car to car. Bear in mind too that such a long car is hard to turn around on a narrow church square, so agree on a spot where it can wait for a moment.
