Wedding car trends 2027: classic, silver and electric
Getting married in 2027? These are the trends of 2026 and the predictions for 2027, translated into your wedding car, with tips on booking in good time.
2027 wedding trends translated into your wedding car
Getting married in 2027? Then you are searching at just the right time. In this article you can read which wedding car trends to expect in 2027. We look at what we saw in 2026, at the 2027 wedding trends that major wedding platforms expect, and at what that means for your choice. One thing first: the sources we found do not predict wedding car trends for 2027. The predictions are about weddings in general. Translating them to the car is our own advice.
Looking back at 2025 and 2026
Plenty of people are getting married
According to CBS, 70,141 couples married in the Netherlands in 2025, compared with 68,682 in 2024. If you add the 27,968 registered partnerships, there were 98,109 unions in total in 2025.
In 2025, May and September were the busiest wedding months. In May 2025, 9,254 marriages took place and in September 9,199. In January there were 3,136. In 2026, June stood out: according to provisional CBS figures, 11,455 marriages took place in June 2026, compared with 8,770 in June 2025. On days like these, demand for wedding cars is high.
A nod to the past
In the 2026 Pinterest Wedding Trends Report, you could see a nod to the past in several places. The search term '1980s wedding dress' rose by 1,090% and 'vintage Hollywood makeup' by 395%. Old technology made a comeback too: 'vinyl wedding' rose by 245%.
Heritage and romance keep rolling
What The Knot expects
The American wedding platform The Knot expects the love of the past to continue in 2027. According to The Knot's 2027 trends report, antique lace and Victorian details rose by 280%, as part of a return to heritage and romance. That prediction is based on American data.
Choose a car with history
If you choose a romantic, classic style, a car with history naturally fits. A classic car with chrome, round headlights and a leather interior goes beautifully with lace and old-world details. Also read 7 reasons to choose a classic car as your wedding car.
If you are after timeless elegance, British classics such as a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud or a Bentley are a good fit. They have graceful lines and plenty of room for a dress with a long train. If you would rather go for a bold look, an American classic such as a Ford Mustang or a large Buick is a good choice. And if you are getting married in summer, a convertible makes the ride extra festive.
With a classic car, always check a few things. Does a chauffeur come with it, or can you drive yourself? Does the car suit the distance between the ceremony and the reception venue? A classic car drives at a leisurely pace, and that takes a bit of extra time in your schedule. Also ask what the plan is in case of bad weather or a breakdown. A good rental company will have a clear answer.

From gold to silver, and warm earthy tones
Two colour directions
For 2027 you see two directions. The Knot predicts that silver will replace gold. Silver cutlery, platinum jewellery and decor in cool tones rose by 133%. That was measured in search, saving and spending data from 1.7 million American couples from January to June 2026. The British platform Bridebook predicts the opposite: emerging warm colours such as terracotta, tomato red and rust. That fits with 2026, when earthy romance was one of the colour trends on Pinterest. There, 'plum and olive wedding' rose by 1,380% and 'muted terracotta tones' by 545%.
Premier Carriage, a British wedding car hire company, also saw more demand in spring 2026 for soft pastel colours, such as sage, champagne and powder blue, instead of bright white. That is the experience of one rental company in the United Kingdom.
Colour and decoration for your wedding car
By colour direction:
- Silver and cool: choose a silver-grey classic or a car with plenty of chrome. White flowers and silver ribbons finish it off.
- Warm and earthy: choose a car in cream or champagne with a cognac-coloured interior. Decorate with dried flowers in terracotta or rust.
- Soft and pastel: a mint green or light blue classic stands out without shouting.

The wedding becomes a weekend
The Knot sees the wedding growing into a weekend. In the American data, nearly 1 in 3 weddings lasts three days or longer. Bridebook names a playful, personal style as the main trend for 2027. According to Bridebook, searches for such playful weddings on Pinterest rose by 1,000% in a year. Smaller weddings are growing too: in the United Kingdom, according to Bridebook, 12% of weddings in 2025 were a register office wedding, compared with 9% in 2024.
Transport for the whole weekend
If your celebration lasts longer than one day, think about transport for your guests too. Instead of everyone driving themselves, the group travels together. A wedding bus, such as a classic Volkswagen bus, is ideal for this and suits a playful style. You can also use it for the photo shoot or the ride to dinner on the second day. Feel free to combine: a classic car for you and your partner, and a bus for the guests. That way the transport throughout the day matches one style.
Having a small wedding instead, for example with just your witnesses? Then the car becomes all the more important. It is often the only real moment of celebration along the way, and it appears in almost every photo. In that case, choose a car with character that fits your story.

Electric and classic at the same time
Driving electric is normal
Driving electric has become normal in the Netherlands. In August 2026, 48.9% of newly sold passenger cars were fully electric, and 39.3% over the first eight months. These figures come from BOVAG and RAI Vereniging.
An electric classic as your wedding car
To be honest, the choice of electric wedding cars is still small. One example is the Porsche 911 Electric, a classic 1966 Porsche that has been fully converted to electric. It has two seats and an automatic gearbox, and according to the rental company you can drive it yourself. A classic like this with an electric motor combines heritage and electric driving.

Planning for 2027: how to go about it
Start in good time
Popular dates go quickly. The municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel announced in June 2026 that couples wanting to marry on 27 July 2027 would have to wait a little: you can only register there a year in advance. If you want to marry on such a special date, register as early as your municipality allows and then arrange your wedding car straight away. If you want a free wedding, you often have to wait. According to Binnenlands Bestuur, because places are limited, most municipalities have a waiting list, on average almost 85 days.
Planning times are getting shorter too. According to Bridebook, a fifth of British couples now marry within 12 months of getting engaged. The shorter your planning, the more important it is to secure the car quickly. Premier Carriage notes that popular spring cars are often booked as early as October. If you are getting married in spring 2027, now is the time.
What does it cost?
Average rates for 2027 are not yet known. Use those of 2026 as a guide and ask your own municipality about the 2027 rate. According to ANP figures, published by Hart van Nederland, a town hall wedding in 2026 costs an average of €506 on a Friday afternoon and an average of almost €794 on a Saturday. There is little Dutch data on wedding transport. In Germany, according to the Bridebook Wedding Report 2026, couples spent an average of €593 on wedding transport. That is not a Dutch figure, but it does give you an idea. You can read more in what wedding car hire costs in 2026.
Step-by-step plan
- Fix your date first. Arrange the municipality or your wedding venue. If you want a free wedding, allow for a waiting list.
- Choose your style. Classic, silver, earthy, playful or electric? Let the car match it.
- Think of your guests. Is your celebration longer, or do you want a wedding bus? Include that in your request.
- Compare several cars. Browse the range of wedding cars and save your favourites in your favourites list.
- Request free quotes. Give every rental company the same date, times and addresses. Ask how many hours are included, what overrunning costs and whether the decoration is included.
Getting married on a popular Saturday in the busy months? Then this applies even more: the sooner you book, the better the chance that your dream car is still available.
