The T3: the boxy Volkswagen bus
There are currently no Volkswagen T3 wedding buses listed on the site. The T3 is the third generation of the Volkswagen bus and was built in Europe from the late seventies to the early nineties. It is boxier and roomier than its predecessors and was the last Volkswagen bus with the engine at the back. Many people know it as a camper van, but there were also versions with rows of passenger seats.
As a wedding car, the T3 suits a relaxed wedding with friends. There is room for the couple and a few guests, the sliding door makes getting in with a wedding dress easy, and it fits well with a celebration on the beach, in a garden or on a farm. Its clean lines give an eighties feel that is quite different from the rounded buses of the sixties.
Classic Volkswagen buses you can hire
The site mainly lists its predecessors. The Volkswagen T2 dates from the seventies, has a one-piece windscreen and is closest in shape to the T3. The Volkswagen T1 is the oldest and most iconic, with its split windscreen and the large VW emblem on the nose.

What is the difference between a T1, T2 and T3?
The T1 is the oldest, from the fifties and sixties, with a split windscreen and rounded shapes. The T2 followed in the late sixties, with a one-piece windscreen. The T3 arrived in the late seventies and is more angular and roomier. All three have the engine at the back, and the T3 was the last to use that layout.
How many people can fit in a wedding bus?
That depends on the model and the interior. A classic Volkswagen bus often has room for the couple and a few guests, but not every seat has a seat belt. Ask the rental company for the exact number of seats, and bear in mind that a wedding dress takes up space.
Is a classic camper van suitable for a long journey?
