Rambler was a brand of American Motors, the company formed in the mid-1950s from Nash and Hudson. While the big American brands kept building longer and longer cars, Rambler made its name with more compact, economical and practical models. The Ambassador was the top model: larger, more luxurious and generously equipped. The name disappeared in the United States at the end of the 1960s, which makes a Rambler a rare sight in the Netherlands.
As a wedding car, a Rambler has the charm of something almost nobody knows. Guests instantly recognise the American lines and the chrome, but they are not quite sure what they are looking at. That gives them something to talk about. As with most American saloons of that era, the seats are wide and the suspension is soft, so a dress sits comfortably. Bear in mind that the technology is old and allow a little extra time.
Because so few Ramblers are on the road in the Netherlands, it is unlikely that your guests have ever seen one at a wedding. That makes the car personal and distinctive. Do feel free to ask the owner about the history of the car; he often has a good story to go with it, which is also nice to share during the celebrations.
There is currently no Rambler online. These cars have the same feel of the American 1950s and 60s:
The selection changes, so a Rambler may still appear later.
