Since the 1920s, Lincoln has been Ford's luxury brand, and for many years it was the great rival of Cadillac. The best-known model is the Continental from the 1960s: a long, sleek sedan with rear doors that swing open backwards. Those doors make getting in roomy and easy, and they create a beautiful picture when the bride steps out. The Continental was also used by American presidents, and later Lincoln models such as the Town Car often served as the basis for stretch limousines.
As a wedding car, a classic Lincoln stands for understated American luxury: less flamboyant than a car with tail fins, yet grand and elegant. It suits a stylish city wedding, a grand townhouse or a 1960s-style party. Bear in mind the length of the car when parking, and agree on a fixed drop-off spot.
A classic Lincoln in black, white or dark blue looks distinguished without being over the top. The clean, straight lines of the Continental look their best when the car is parked in front of a building with a clear façade, such as a town hall, a villa or a hotel. Keep the decoration simple, so that the lines of the car stay visible.
