The Land Rover Defender is not currently in our selection. That's a shame, because it is a wedding car with real character. The classic Defender traces its roots back to the first Land Rover, built shortly after the Second World War, and it was produced until 2016 with the same boxy shape and a distinctly British, rural image. Since 2020 there has been a new generation that is more modern and comfortable, but it has kept the straight lines.
As a wedding car, a Defender suits a wedding at a farm, in the woods or on an estate, where an ordinary car might not be able to reach the door. The downside is the high step up: with a long dress, a step or a helping hand is no luxury.
The closest to the Defender is the Mercedes-Benz G63, the powerful version of the G-Class: also boxy, tall and indestructible-looking, but with a luxurious interior. If you want something American and even bigger, take a look at the Dodge Ram, a pick-up that makes a big impression in photos.
If you are going for a rustic feel with a touch of nostalgia, a classic pick-up such as the GMC 100 from the 1950s is a surprising alternative. The load bed has room for flowers, a sign with your names, or even a few straw bales for the photo shoot.
With each of these cars, agree in advance how you will drive the route, and ask whether the car is also allowed to take an unpaved track to the venue.
