A classic Jaguar Mk is not currently on the site. In the 1950s and 1960s Jaguar gave its saloons a Mark number. The best known is the Mk2 from the late 1950s and the 1960s: a compact, low saloon with rounded lines, often wire wheels and an interior of wood and leather. Many people know it as the car of Inspector Morse in the British television series of the same name. There were also larger models, such as the Mark X, with an even more stately presence.
As a wedding car, a Jaguar Mk combines sportiness with British class. The four doors make getting in easier than in a coupé, and the back seat has room for the couple, although a Mk2 is not as spacious inside as it looks from the outside. A dress with a lot of volume will therefore need some careful fitting. In photos at a country estate, a castle or in a historic town centre, the low, rounded shape looks wonderful. Expect classic technology without air conditioning, and a car that is best suited to a relaxed route.
For a British saloon with the same atmosphere, the Bentley MK VI is a lovely alternative, a little older and more distinguished. If you want more luxury and space in the back, look at the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud from the same era.
You can find all British cars together under English wedding cars, from a London taxi to a sporty Aston Martin. The selection changes; if a Jaguar Mk is added later, it will appear on this page.
